EASTS

EASTS was founded in November 1994 as a result of the meeting among the transport experts coming from 13 countries/regions in eastern Asia. The significant meeting of experts happened in Kawana in Izu, Shizuoka Prefecture in Japan.
This is an umbrella organization of transportation science societies with the primary objectives of fostering and supporting excellence in transportation research and practice and to stimulate professional interchange in all aspects and modes of transportation.
The member countries/regions of the society are Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and New Zealand.
The 1st Conference was held in Shangri-La EDSA Plaza Hotel in Metro Manila, Philippines on September 28-30, 1995 where 89 reviewed papers were presented and 3 volumes of journal published and the following 2nd Conference was held in Sheraton Walker-Hill Hotel in Seoul, Korea on October 29-31, 1997 where there was an overwhelming response to the call for papers. In the Seoul Conference, a total of 154 reviewed papers and 25 non-reviewed papers were presented and 6 volumes of journal and 1 volume of proceedings were published.
